CANE is an epic drama about the external rivalries and internal power struggles of a large Cuban-American family that owns a rum and sugar empire in South Florida. When the family patriarch, Pancho, is offered a lucrative but questionable deal by his bitter adversaries, the Samuels, to purchase thousands of acres of sugar fields, he"s faced with a tough choice: Should he cash out of the sugar business and focus solely on rum, which would please his impulsive natural son, Frank, or protect the family legacy that he builtfr0mthe ground up by not selling, and side with his adopted son, Alex, who mistrusts the Samuels and still sees value in sugar?


Alex and Frank"s approach to business is as different as their approach to life. While Frank might lose focus chasing women, Alex is deeply in love with his beautiful wife, Isabel, who is also Pancho"s daughter. Married when she was just 17 years old, Isabel balances Alex by choosing not to involve herself in the business, focusing instead on their three children, Jaime, Katie and Artie, who are determined to forge their own paths outside the family.


Jaime has a deep love for his father but also yearns to go his own way. When he"s accepted to a reputable college he must face the decision to please Alex or stick by his beloved girlfriend Rebecca and choose a new life. Katie is their rebellious teenage daughter who looks and acts far older than she is.
Henry, Pancho"s youngest son, prefers to stand in the sidelines while his oldest siblings battle for control of the Duque"s interests. While her sons wrestle with their own personal difficulties and secrets, Pancho"s wife, Amalia, attends to the normal inter-personal conflicts that occur within an extended family and bridges the gap between the three generations by hosting the family"s large music-filled cookouts and lively dinners.


For the Duques, will family allegiance come first or will their secrets and acrimonious conflicts over love, lust and control of the family fortune, be their downfall?

Jimmy Smits 饰演 Alex Vega

Jimmy Smits是有着苏里南，波多黎各和美国血统的混血儿，他在纽约出生。 他于1980年在布鲁克林大学获得学士学位，1982年在康奈尔大学获得美术硕士学位。 他最有名的作品为《纽约重案组》。2004年他加入了《白宫风云》的演员阵容。

Hector Elizondo 饰演 Pancho Duque

Hector Elizondo出生于1936年12月22日。 十岁的他被传奇人物W.C. Handy(1873-1958)发掘，从此Hector 开始和W.C. Handy出现在地方广播和电视上。 1954年，Hector考取了纽约城市大学，希望能成为一名历史老师。 1955年他第一次结婚，生了一个儿子，但是在1957年便离了婚。 1962-1963年间他再次结婚，取了一位年轻的秘书。Hector继续演出，后来在Actor"s Studio遇见了演员 Carolee Campbell 。她出演了NBC电视台的肥皂剧《The Doctors》。他们于1969年结合，之后就一直幸福美满。 Hector从舞台表演成功转型到出演电影，从1970年到今他出演了超过80部电影和电视电影。导演Garry Marshall把Hector当作自己的幸运星，他出演了Garry的12部电影，包括和Richard Gere出演《American Gigolo (1980)》，和Richard Gere Julia
Roberts共同出演《Pretty Woman (1990)》，并且凭借这部电影Hector获得了金球奖最佳男配角的提名。
　　当然，有Julia Roberts和Richard Gerend的电影不能没有Hector，他们后来又共同合作了电影《Runaway Bride (1999)》，这部电影票房很好。
　　 Hector的儿子Rodd Elizondo是一位老师，他还有一个孙女。Hector的爱好包括剑道，吉他和唱歌，还有他仍然还会玩小手鼓。

Nestor Carbonell 饰演Frank Duque

Nestor出生在纽约，但是他的家庭经常搬家，实际上西班牙语才是他的母语。Carbonell在哈佛大学学习英语专业，大一的时候有了第一次表演的机会。毕业后，他从事演艺工作，在白天电视节目中饰演过小角色，他第一次在黄金时段的演出是在《Law & Order》中。Nestor出演的角色通常是西班牙人或者欧洲人，后来在《Melrose Place》和《A Different World》中都有客串演出，接着终于在《Muscle》中主演一个名叫Gianni的帅气舞男。同年他出演了电影《Love & Happiness》，虽然这部戏只在洛杉矶的一家影院放映。 作为一个喜剧演员他很受欢迎，于是迅速出演了NBC连续剧《Suddenly Susan》中酷酷的摄影师Brooke Shields。
